Our Story

Our Story

A few favourite moments and a little of the story behind the day.

We met thanks to a little matchmaking from David’s niece, who was setting us up without either of us even realising it.

Safe to say, it was a memorable first night. Things were going well, and David went in for a kiss… which wasn’t exactly reciprocated by Fiona. David’s reaction? “That went differently in my head!”

Thankfully, things only went from strength to strength, and before long David was finally on his first ever proper date. Then, as they say, the rest is history.

Fast forward to a very special evening — David’s 50th birthday — surrounded by family and friends. With the help of the kids, who held up cards asking the big question, David asked Fiona to marry him. She said yes.

We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of our story with all of you.

FAQ

Questions Guests Usually Ask

A simple place to check the practical details guests usually want before travelling and over the weekend.

Can I bring a plus one?

Only if included on the invitation. We’d love to keep our wedding intimate and personal.

Are children invited?

No — this will be an adults-only celebration, with the exception of our own children and immediate family members.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

We kindly ask guests not to take photos during the ceremony. Please avoid taking photos while the bride is walking down the aisle, as it may interfere with the professional photography.

Is there parking?

Yes — there is a multi-storey car park on site.

What is the dress code?

Formal wedding attire. Please reserve the colours white and emerald green for the bridal party.

What will be served on arrival?

Guests will be welcomed with prosecco and strawberry mojitos on arrival.

How close is the hotel to public transport?

The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Portlaoise train station, making it very convenient for guests travelling from out of town.

When should I be seated for the ceremony?

Please be seated for the ceremony by 2:15 PM sharp — Fiona is a stickler for timekeeping!
